Do NFL teams score more in domes?
Yes. NFL teams average 23.9 points per game indoors versus 22.3 outdoors, a clean bump of about 1.6 points a team. No wind, no rain, a fast track and a passing game that runs on schedule.
Averaged over every team-game since 2016. Double it for the combined game effect on totals.
That is per team, so the effect on a game total is closer to three points once you count both sides. It is one of the few environmental factors that shows up cleanly in the scoring, which is why sharp totals already account for the roof.
Every number here comes from our own game database: 2,629 regular-season NFL games since 2016, rebuilt daily. We compute rates across all qualifying games, never a cherry-picked window. This is descriptive history, not a prediction, and it updates on its own.
